Eating chocolate, listening to Sopor Aeternus, watching documentaries about serial killers and painting Loki. Pretty good evening!

I’d honestly not really thought about the logistics of the thing, maybe I should have, apologies if necessary, but it’s still possible even for him to use his left hand, surely. It just looked like a gunshot wound to me, so I went with it.

(I’m also still flabbergasted this is getting notes.)

Never apologies for wonderful creativity. The whole reason for why I didn’t do a specific kind of wound (it would have been a bullet hole if I had though) was for people to be able to make different interpretations of what had happened. And, as revealed by my earlier conclusion, he did use his left hand since the wound mostly resembles an exit gunshot wound, so there is nothing wrong about the logistic and reasoning behind your writing.

(Notes make you happy)

JUST WHY.

I can’t breathe. Tears in my eyes. Air stuck in throat. Hand moving manically. Little pathetic high pitched noises. Oh jesus. Right in the heart. You get off on this, don’t you? DON’T YOU!

absolutely amazing!!

see my only problem with this is John is left-handed

and

the bullet wound is on the right side of his head…

would cause quite a bit of contortion…

N O P E.

thatswhatgeeksdo, I think that might be the exit wound.

When I painted this picture I did not have suicide in mind - it’s the author’s lovely and heartbreaking interpretation of it.
Let’s say it is a suicide though. Because of some of the comments I’d like to say a few words about the wound pattern.

First though: Yes, John is left-handed, but when we see him shoot in Pink and Hounds he uses his right: He’s right gun-handed (not completely unusual). So there’s that - the fact that he is left-handed doesn’t have to matter.
Second: I only painted blood as a symbol, and did not think a lot about the wound when creating this piece.

So, let’s get to it:

A suicide shot would consist of either a (very, very) close range or a contact gunshot. Since it’s to the temple/skull, and not through the mouth, contact shot is most likely.
Contact wounds does usually have soot on the outside of the skin, and muzzle imprint, or laceration of the skin from effects of gases, creating abrasion rings, discolaration from the soot, and, since the barrel contacts the skin, the gases released might go into the subcutaneous tissue and cause a star shaped gash.

Entrance wounds produced when silencers are involved can lead to reddish muzzle imprints that are disproportionately large for the size of the wound. This is more likely for causing the pattern on my picture, but we have never seen John using a silencer, and I don’t think he ever would.

Most bullets are design not to leave an exit wound, but it does, however, in many situations occur (for example when the projectile is more powerful than necessary). Exit wounds are generally larger than the entrance wound, and do not show as much gunshot remains than what is related to entrance wounds.

Conclusion: Since the (contact) entrance wound from a bullet going though a skull would not look like the way a painted the blood in the picture, it is not very likely that what we see in the picture is an entrance wound, but an exit wound. John therefore used his left, and dominant hand.

(Sorry, you got my mind started).

Welcome and thank you to all my lovely new followers!

I will post some of my old marker paintings next, because digital fan art is very much not the only thing I do. Don’t worry though, I now a lot of you are Sherlockians, and I promise there will be more of that here later on.

tea-at-nancherrow asked:
gah, your art is just amazing!

Thank you hun! I’m very glad you like it!

New blog!

So I decided to make a new personal blog after all, for things I like. This means decompositiondance will be an artblog (and possibly an obsession-with-fictional-characters-blog). Everything else, like body modifications, pictures of me, gothic fashion, music, beautiful art, human rights, morbid pictures and philosophy, will from now on be found here:
AnnieDelusion

So if you’re interested in the non-art things I post, feel free to follow there!
This blog will of course continue as normal (just more art-y).
